GoPro Announces Spherical Camera

GoPro has announced it will be creating a new camera rig that allows its popular action cameras to record spherical video.

The new camera rig which is shaped like a ball houses 6 GoPro Hero 4 cameras that are pointing in all different directions around.

The cameras capture footage simultaneously and it is then stitched together with Kolor, a Virtual Reality Software Company that GoPro bought in April.

The video above shows off the results, and they look pretty good.  The videos are also viewable on the Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, and Microsoft HoloLens according to the company or on YouTube like the video above.

No word yet on pricing.
